Concept
My work arises from an ongoing research process that combines the traditional technique of Foujita white with new materials and applications. The narrative of my work intertwines interests in botany, textures, transformation, time, and wear.
I like to think of my works as keys that open onto another world. Keys that open rock-shaped chests. In the world one enters, there is no closed form or anything bound to literalness. It is a world that seeks to connect with the sensitivity of a trace, of something left behind or about to appear. That trace carries connotations. The softness of colored pencil—ethereal, transparent, while also seeming like moisture—spreads across the surface. Subtle areas sit in tension with energetic, pronounced traces. Peeling surfaces appear in some works. The world I open speaks of impermanence.
